Business Presentations Business presentations in Mexico is a tough subject to give concrete recommendations on. Rarely will you have to give a business presentation in a formal business setting with charts, reports, Power Point, etc. Many business meetings take place outside the office thus limiting the opportunities to give a business presentation. If you do have to do so, this chapter will provide you some guidelines on how to maximize your impact of your presentation. This chapter will also cover how your business should present your product to your Mexican business contacts and some guidelines on marketing, advertising, and promotion. If your trip to Mexico does include a formal business presentation at your Mexican business contacts’ office or another situation, treat it similarly to a business presentation in the United States. Be sure to be prepared with all documents, reports, visuals, etc. beforehand. A lot of Mexican businesspeople are comfortable with English, this being said your presentation should be in Spanish if at all possible. If not, make sure your bring a translator. If you are not completely fluent in Spanish, bring along or hire a translator who is familiar with the business you are in. It could be a costly mistake if your translator is unfamiliar with specific business terms that your company uses, so if you do not have a translator on hand, do a thorough search and try to find someone who can help you get across business ideas that may seem foreign to your audience. If at all possible, check in advance to see if all the technology that you need to present is available at the meeting place. If you are unsure, try to make a phone to call to your Mexican business contact and ask what will be available to you.
