Question 4 what is the difference between your decision and their decision? (15m)
I will not follow Captain Miller’s decision to let Ryan stay and defend the bridge. I think I will bring him back to his mother. The first reason is due to orders that must be followed by soldiers as I think that following orders are important for a leader also regardless of any situation. Captain Miller did not consider the consequences of things that would happen to Ryan and his men. Captain Miller might just be following his instinct but his instinct sacrifice him and his men. I might think that it is not worthy to put so many soldiers’ lives at stake. If I were them, I would not let Ryan stay and defend the bridge because I do not want to endanger the lives of other soldiers because of one soldier. I would think that bad things could happen if I did not bring Ryan home. What if Ryan and other soldiers are killed in the battle at the bridge? Their parents and loved ones are waiting for them to come home and because of my irrational decision; they die on battlefield and unable to meet their family and loved ones. How could I face them in future? I would feel guilty for the rest of my life. Sometimes before making any decision, I have to put myself in others’ shoes. Courage and patriotism are good but if things affect other people lives, I have to think twice before making any decision as I do not want to regret later in future.
