Describe Organizational Development (OD)? How is it applied in your organization? Organizational Development is a process used by leaders of an organization to improve their communication, problem solving and learning effectiveness. Researchers agree that organizational development purpose is to improve processes and outcomes in organizations (Hitt, Miller, and Colella, 2012). When it comes to change, leaders in organizations must be able to develop their team in a way that allows them to achieve organizational development. Basically, organizational development is used as a process that helps an organization and its employees to develop continuously. In my last job, organizational development was applied through the use of continuous certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Med Tech, and residential activity training. All of which are important to the success of the organization (facility) as a whole. Without proper training and the organizational structure, the care managers would not develop into performing their jobs or achieving the goals of the business. As stated in our textbook, organizational development is a continuous process that works in improving an organization.
When implementing Organizational Development (OD) interventions, how should managers deal with people who have low self-efficacy? Some people have a low tolerance when it comes to change, and when dealing with people who have low self-efficacy, managers need acknowledge the existence of such a problem, and aid in helping that person to build confidence in their abilities. People that suffers from low self-efficacy may not feel empowered, or that they possess the abilities to control events in their life. This can create problems for them in the workplace, causing them to exhibit uncertainty about the capacity in which he/she can perform at their job in a given situation.
