Campaigner Speech

This whole entire speech contained biased information. This whole entire speech contained biased information because the campaigner is defending himself to be elected which makes him out to be the correct person to elect. An example of bias in this speech is when the campaigner stated, “There is only one man who can rid the politics of this State of the evil domination of Boss Jim Gettys. I am speaking of Charles Foster Kane, the fighting liberal, the friend of the working man, the next Governor of this State, who entered upon this campaign.” An ad hominen/genetic fallacy was used because the campaigner attacks the origins for the position Jim Gettys is proposing. An example of the genetic fallacy is “Now, however, I have something more than a hope. And Jim Gettys -- Jim Gettys has something less than a chance.” A scare tactic fallacy stated by Kane, “with one purpose only: to point out and make public the dishonesty, the downright villainy, of Boss Jim W. When Kane states, “with one purpose only: to point out and make public the dishonesty, the downright villainy, of Boss Jim W. Gettys' political machine -- now in complete control of the government of this State!” he uses dysphemism to produce a negative effect on a listener’s or reader’s attitude toward something or to tone down the positive associations it may have. A rhetorical analogy was made when Kane stated, “Now, however, I have something more than a hope. And Jim Gettys -- Jim Gettys has something less than a chance” because the likening one thing to another thing in order to convey a negative or positive feeling about it and they include metaphors. When Kane said” Every straw vote, every independent poll shows that I'll be elected. Now I...
