Career Management Plan
A career management plan is an essential part to an individual's growth and development throughout his or her career. A good career management plan will allow a person to understand where he or she wants to be and how he or she can reach these career goals. The management team at InterClean, Inc. wants to implement a career management plan so each employee will be able to recognize his or her own strengths and weaknesses and develop into a more effective employee.
During week four, members of Team C developed a career management plan that will help the sales team at InterClean, Inc. develop into a more effective team. The career management plan developed by Team C includes employee feedback, helping employees reach higher levels of performance, identifying opportunities for advancement, providing flexible opportunities, adapting to diversity, and an analysis of the budget, benefits and costs of the plan.
Feedback
As InterClean, Inc. and EnviroTech merge, great care should be given to providing valuable training and feedback to all sales members. “Feedback defines expectations and holds employees accountable.” (Forte, 2008, p. 27) InterClean, Inc. can provide valuable feedback to the sales members in areas such as an employee’s understanding of environmental regulations and product knowledge; organization and documentation; social skills and sales techniques; and skills, competency, and training completion. One technique that InterClean, Inc. can implement for providing performance feedback involves a five step process, offered by Jay Forte. In The American Salesman, Mr. Forte suggests beginning with “1) a positive comment, 2) reinforce or redirect specific behaviors or situations, 3) describe impact and consequences on business objectives and on individual progress, 4) create a plan and identify alternatives, and 5) end with a positive comment.” (Forte, 2008, p. 27) During the initial phase of training, feedback should be given...
