Causes of Poverty
Poverty and what is causing such condition was a very controversial issue in how to define it. So the poverty is the circumstances of having unsatisfactory earnings or resources, (Microsoft Encarta, 2008), and other defined it by having an income of U.S. $1 in a day this is called extreme poverty. So what is causing poverty and how it’s happened also which elements are involved in causing poverty? There were many different reasons which have been stated to explain how poverty was caused, although no single one of them has achieved a total recognition, (New World Encyclopedia, 2008).
The most important and apparent causes which contribute in poverty conditional in the developing countries, such causes are overpopulation, economical issues, and environmental degradation.
Starting with first cause overpopulation, it is the condition of having a huge number of people with limited resources in confined area (Microsoft Encarta, 2008); this leads to a very high pressure on the existing resources in which a certain group of people have to use it to obtain food. Adding to that the lack of having modern farming methods and only relay on conventional ones, for that utilizing that land to feed large group of people will be a very difficult task because of the low scale food production compared with the intensive demand of that large population. Another condition caused from overpopulation is that the affect in providing reasonable public services, due to the large number of people compared to the public services facilities which are offered. Such services for example healthcare and education,. (“New World Encyclopedia”, 2008),
The second reason of causing poverty in developing countries is related to economical issues, such as investments, employment opportunities, and most important the international dept, (New World Encyclopedia,2008); economy can offer different causes of poverty.
