In this high tech 21st century that we live in there have been numerous advancements to help us in our everyday lives. One of these things is the cellular phone. Everywhere you look, from school kids to top executives it seems like in our world today everyone has one of these devises. It is true that having a cell phone is very convenient and helpful most of the time such as emergencies, but not everyone knows of the potential negative impacts theses phones have on our lives. In the past several years there have been numerous studies looking into this possible problem, common courtesy, theoretical health risks and harmful car accidents. Many have come to the conclusion that it is false and there is no risk behind using a cell phone, but there are others who continue to say that the risks are very high. Most people do not believe that cell phones pose a serious health risk like cancer and brain tumors just as long as they are used properly. In the past several years there have been numerous studies looking into theoretical health risks, and harmful car accidents caused by cellphones.


In the past few years there have been court cases against cell phone companies stating that the phones caused substantial damage. In 2001 a Maryland neurologist named Dr. Christopher Newman who filed an $800 million lawsuit against Motorola Inc., Verizon Communications Corp., Bell Atlantic Corp., Bell Atlantic Mobile Systems, and Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems. These are very large companies, and a lawsuit coming from a very educated man. But, is there enough evidence to prove that the radiation from his cell phone is responsible for his malignant brain tumor. These cases as well as a handful of others were thrown out due to the lack of evidence. Yet if there are this many people filling suits, there is definitely a need to investigate and look further into this supposed problem.
