The 21st century is the era of reality television. Reality tv tries to show just what it implies; the reality. They've done shows such as Jersey Shore and Real World, where they have a group of people who have never met each other before are put into a house together, and forced to live in a house together for a period of time. They can either make the best of it, or it can go terribly wrong. Usually ending in the latter. There are shows like America's Next Top Model where a dozen twig like girls all join together to live in a house where in the end, one of the girls will out last the rest- purely based on physical appearence- and win money and a job. And in recent years even toddlers have had their 'reality' shown to the world, in a series call Toddlers in Tiara's, where girls ages ranging from a few months to 10 years old have camera's following them as they live their lives in over sexualized beauty pagents.
The TV in the 21st centry is used as a pacifier, so from a very young age, adolesence, epsecially adolesence from the United States are exposed to these shows from a very young age. I would like to investigate how reality have has effected the adolesence of United States in the 21st century. Social issues such as teen drinking, teen drug use, teen clothing trends, language and slang changes, mental and phsyical disorders, and the over sexualization of young adults.
Every generation claims that the generaton below them is worse. My generatoin is no different on this topic than any other generation. Social issues such as underage drinking and drug use, clothing, language and slang, teen pregnancy, graduation rates, disorders in young adults, technology, and the sexualization at such young ages are what have most people so concerned of today's young adults. I would like to investage the transitions in the young adults of the 21st century. Why is there such a emphasise on being sexualized at such a young age?
