CheckPoint Local Environmental Issue

An environmental issue that I feel is a significant problem in my town of Minot; ND is the lack of recycling resources. In a town with an estimated population of 65,000 people only has one recycling center. This recycling center is also hard to get to and they have limited drop off hours. I believe that without an easier access to recycling resources people will not put the effort out. People in this day and age are creatures of convenience and not to sound mean but people have grown lazy in this age of convenience. I believe if people in this town were more vocal or there was a group to pick up recycling, the people in Minot just might give a little bit of effort to recycling.
Yet another environmental problem Minot has is the level of pollution in the Mouse River that runs through town. This has been a problem for years with no one in line to clean and clear this matter up. Not only is this an eye sore for the city, but the ecological effects on vegetation and wild life in the area could become a great concern if not dealt with. Some parts of the river does not flow as well as others do to blockage and poor drainage systems. In addition to cleaning the river of trash and debris the city could install a filter system or better drainage system. This would aid in the prevention of stagnant water as well as aid in water filtration of toxins that could harm wild life.
