Children of God

Children of God

As a child of God, I can be a sign of God’s presence in the world here and now. I can do so by doing what God taught us through Jesus, His son. I can follow His will and do good deeds, no matter how small, like not talking when the teacher’s teaching us a lesson, doing my homework, not saying bad things about others, not judging people, and so on. These acts may be small, but it can make a big difference. By doing these, we are being good examples to other people, like our classmates, friends, and siblings, and if they learn to do these small actions, we can change the world.

Jesus also taught us to be charitable and giving. We are given so many blessings, that we are expected to share with others. Whether it is our time, or our material possessions that we share with others, we can touch people’s lives, even through a simple act of generosity and kindness. We can show mercy to the less fortunate by donating money, food, or clothes to the poor, and by participating in the many programs held by our parish churches. We can also participate in the activities of other organizations such as the Gawad Kalinga and the HAIN programs.

As Christians, we must also live out what we are being taught in the gospel. We are expected to show our love and worship for God by going to mass, receiving the holy eucharist, and by praying, not because we have to, but because we want to.

We are also called to be stewards of God’s creation by taking care of the earth and the other creatures God created. God created so many things for us so that we wouldn’t be lonely, and in return, we have to learn to take care of what we are given.

There are many ways we can be signs of God’s presence in the world today. In spite of the many different problems in the world today, we can show that there’s still hope for the future by being a disciple of Christ and following His will to the best of our capabilities.
