Christian and Government

The Christian and his Government
In the world we live in today there are many issues we can get involved in. These issues include our schools, the government, and in foreign matters just to name a few. Many citizens just stand by as laws are created and passed that effect our lives. When the laws violate our religious beliefs, what is our obligation to God and our government?
Why must we serve the government? To obey God you need to obey the government and follow the laws given to us. In Romans 13:1-3, the bible states that we need to be subject to higher powers because all government is given to us by Him alone. We are not to resist the government but to obey or receive damnation unto themselves. The government is not supposed to be a terror but a promoter of peace. When the government adds laws that go against what God says then we must obey what God.
When the government goes against God's will we need to obey God. In Acts 5:2b It states, "We ought to obey God rather than man." God requires up to obey the laws that are created by the government unless they go against what God says. This is because God is the higher power and even though we are required to obey the government, whatever goes against his will must not be obeyed.
There are many ways that a Christian in the world we live in today can get involved. They can join together with a non-profit organization that has a strong foothold in the community and its supporters. A few of these organizations are the American Family Association and the Eagle Forum.
