In today’s society I believe that Christian dialogue with other religious traditions are part of proclaiming the Gospel. For instance, weddings are an example of proclaiming the Gospel for the bride and groom and all of those who witness and celebrate with the newlyweds. Another example is community services that are sponsored by a Christian organization. They have the opportunity to not only witness and share the gospel among themselves but to those who gather around their service. The third example of proclaiming the Gospel is in group or justice settings. In the justice settings in most cases start or finish in prayer. In any of these examples it is open to anyone to everyone understands the expectation and is welcome to take part of any activity. As stated "Ecumenism has as its focus and goal clarity of understanding among Christians and a greater realization of unity among Christ’s people. As such it is closely related to the mission of the Gospel to all the world. It should not be confused with the important but distinct responsibility for the Church to enter into conversations and reach greater understanding with people of other faiths"(Ecumenical Vision, p. 8)
Continuing in studying different religion traditions, as a Christian there is lots to learn from other religions. Religion is believed to be far different from Christianity but in truth there are more similarities and differences. For example, Judaism believe in God and actions are extremely more important than faith; Rabbi Hillel best describes one belief “what is hateful to you, do not do to another.” (Solomon Schechter, 2016) This is similar to Luke 6:31 reads “And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” (Biblegateway.com, 2016) Another example is Buddhism, Buddhist main belief is suffering and how to escape it. The Buddha himself was called the "Enlightened One." (Buddhist beliefs, 2016) Buddha taught followers how to end suffering...
