Compare & Contrast on Cinderella
The purpose of this unit is to display the significant difference and similarities of one extraordinary story from two different written versions. The first author is legendary for the Cinderella story, movies, books, and so much more he goes by the name of Walt Disney. Walt Disney first released film on Cinderella in March of 1950. Years after the release of the film Cinderella many reproductions had been done in both film and books. The legendary story continues, Anne Sexton released her written poem on Cinderella in 1970. Sexton’s poem on Cinderella offered something divergent to the story like many other versions.
In Comparison both story’s followed a similar story plot of a mistreated step daughter who went to a ball, fell mutually head over heels in love with a prince, and got married then lived happily ever after. In both versions of the story Cinderella’s biological mother is deceased. After her mother passes away her father marries her step mother. The step mother of Cinderella had two children who shared similar traits with their mother, beautiful in appearance but evil at heart. Eventually the entire family lived in one home, it was then Cinderella’s life changed. Cinderella was classified as a house keeper to her step family. Cinderella was mentally abused and disrespected by her entire step family while. She was responsible for many of the house chores like collecting cinder. Rumors say that Cinderella’s name was originally Ella, one day her step sisters were making fun of her while she was collecting cinder and they named her Cinderella.
Fortunately, in both versions of the story Cinderella had some sort of enchanted figure that guarded her and granted her dearest wishes. The enchanted figures were there for Cinderella at most times in her worst conditions bringing her joy. Cinderella lived in a kingdom ruled by King who had a single son that was air to thrown.
