Classroom Management AED 200 My ideals for effective classroom management are making sure that children have fun learning. I believe that I will use mostly the constructivist approach to classroom management. I want children to have fun learning and that is okay to make mistakes. I want children to be able to make choices for themselves and know that sometimes there are consequences for our choices. Could be good consequences or bad but children should learn by making choices and mistakes. A classroom should be well organized and children friendly. Materials that children are allowed to access should be available to them. Teacher material should be put to where children cannot access. There should be labels so students can put materials back easily. Tables should be arranged in a way that students have enough room to avoid disruptions or discipline problems. Everything needs to be clearly labeled so students know where to put things and what is expected of them. Motivating students the first of the school year is easy. Keeping you and the students motivated all year sometimes can be challenging. I’ve seen teachers get bored by the end of the year so their students are going to be bored and then discipline problems begin or get bigger. If the teacher feels themselves getting in a rut she needs to look for new and exciting activities. If the teacher is excited then the students will be. I think using the behaviorist theory is not all bad. The way I read it this is how some teachers have to teach. They have to teach to the tests that students have to take because the government wants to see high scores and that is how they fund some of the schools. I think some students get lost when the teachers are instructed to teach this way. I think you have more behavior problems because either the students are bored or they aren’t learning because they don’t understand the material.
