Coby Gregory
Wuthering Heights Chapters 1-7
I have to say fist that this is one of the most confusing books ever. I really do not understand what is going on at all. All I think I understand is that everyone in this book has a short temper. Everyone has their moments when they snap on someone. I think I am right that Mr. Lockwood is the narrator
The character that I am analyzing is Mr. Lockwood. I feel like his purpose in the book is to the light area in the book. It seems like everyone in the book is grumpy and aggressive, except for him. Even though he has his moments of aggression, For the most part he kept his composure. One example is when he was surrounded the vicious dogs. For some reason I thought that they were either pigs or dogs. Since Heathcliff seems like such a mean old man, I feel like Mr. Lockwood is supposed to be that young man that brings the nice and good out of him. No what Heathcliff said to Mr. Lockwood, he never seemed to break his spirits or stop him from wanting to live next door to him.
Mr. Lockwood seems to be a strong young man. I don’t mean strong as in brute strength but that he is not easily broken. It seems like Mr. Lockwood is a very determined person, like when he knows what he wants he puts it in his mind that he is going to get it. For instance, He wanted to buy the house from Heathcliff. If you ask me he did not have the best first home visit. If he was a regular person with no purpose in the book I feel like he would have stopped pursuing to buy the house. A regular person would probably not want to live anywhere near a family like the Heathcliffs. If I was almost killed trying to leave a house, I don’t think I would ever want to comeback. That is why I feel like Mr. Lockwood purpose is to have positive impact on Mr. Heathcliff’s life by bringing joy and happiness back into his life.
