College for Underprivileged Students

Underprivileged students who could not afford to go to college, but are talented enough, at least stand a chance at going to on an athletic scholarship. With a lot of good athletes coming out of low income areas they need to know they also have an option to go to school. The only problem with this is a lot of these kids do not realize these options are available until they let their grades get to low, or get into trouble outside of school. If these students were informed at an earlier age some of these problems would most likely not occur. With a lot of today’s professional players coming from low-economic areas of the country, the hopeful future professional athletes get a chance to get their talents noticed when on an athletic scholarship at any college. When these underprivileged students get a scholarship it allows them a chance to show case there talents on the field. Without this opportunity a lot of good athletes and people would think that high school would be a waste of their time and effort. This is why if a student is average in the classroom, but excels at a sport he or she should be encouraged in both aspects instead of just one. When good athletes go to college they must have a certain grade point average, so the college is benefiting by getting nothing less than an average student, and what they definitely know to be a quality athlete. By offering athletic scholarships colleges know they are getting quality athletes without having to take a chance on a so called lottery pick. We cannot forget that these athletes are given these scholarships for another reason that is to draw attention to their school and to make money. So by giving scholarships to only quality athletes they are trying to guarantee that they will achieve these goals.
