"Coming to America! Rules, Policies and Procedures"
America has unique procedures for becoming a resident of the United States. Understanding the rules can be very difficult, time consuming and draining.
In 1990, I decided to come to America to have better opportunities for my children. But to fulfill that dream, I have to become a resident of the United States. the residency process was very challenging. I had to marry a U.S. citizen and stay married for two years or find a emplyer to sponsor me. It was extremely difficult to find an employer to sponsor me. At that time, I was dating a gentleman and I eventually married him. However, the relationship failed and I was back to square one.
Since I was coming out of a divorce, raising two children and working long hours,I had little time to focus on one f my main goals which had started to seem unreachable.
The rules are difficult in a new land, with different support and different culture. Then, a terrific teacher who happens to be my bestfriend, changed my future. She called, inviting me to meet a gentleman. Little did I know that the call would change my future. We started dating, fell in love and got married in 2004.
The rules that were hard to understand became easier to comprehend. He took time to help me gather all the necessary paper work that I needed and hired an Immigration lawyer to assist with my petition. Today, not only do I have a deep appreciation for the rules, but I understand them fully and have realized my dream too. I have not only come to America, but I have also become an American Citizen. It will be a better life for my children, grandchildren and myself, along with a great husband.
