Electronic Commerce Activity
There are five types of Electronic Commerce: business-to-consumer (B2C), business-to-business (B2B), consumer-to-consumer (C2C), business-to employee (B2E), and government-to-citizen (G2C). Electronic commerce describes the process of “buying, selling, transferring, or exchanging products, services, or information via computer networks, including the Internet” Rainer, R. K., Prince, B. & Cegielski, C. G. (2013). I completed an Electronic Commerce Activity by matching the five types with an example of each one.

The first type, Business-to-Consumer (B2C), is when the sellers are organizations. An example of this type is when a consumer shops from a store online. The second type, Consumer-to-Consumer (C2C), is when an individual sells products or services to other individuals. An example of this is when a consumer buys something from an online auction. The third type, Government-to-Citizen (G2C), is the communication link between a government and private individuals or residents. An example of this is a Social Security benefit payment. The fourth type, Business-to-Business (B2B), is when the buyers and sellers are organizations. An example of this would be when a company buys direct from supplier. The last type, Business-to-Employee (B2E), is when companies use electronic commerce internally to provide information and services to its employees. An example of this would be a travel discount for employees (Rainer, R. K., Prince, B. & Cegielski, C. G. (2013).
This activity helped differentiate each electronic commerce activity, as well as help me understand the details of each one. As a result I have been able to comprehend a much broader spectrum of electronic commerce, as a whole, in the business field. I feel a lot more confident after completing this activity.
