Sit and Paddle or Sit and Steer
For the outdoor enthusiast, the decision to own a boat or kayak can be a difficult one. While similarities exist between both vessels, the argument can sway in either direction when considering the differences based on individual desires. For the adrenaline junkie on the never-ending search for speed, a boat may be more desirable. Yet, the outdoor enthusiast looking for the quiet and tranquil experience, a kayak may be more fitting. Similarly, both vessels provide the opportunity to sit and relax, sit and paddle, sit and steer, or sit and fish. With both the kayak and the boat, the option to sit and enjoy one’s favorite water activities is clear. Yet, regardless of the differences such as: speed, noise, money, or activities available, both sides would agree on the never-ending pleasure in the sound of clapping waves beating gently against whatever vessel is chosen.
Similar to most outdoor activities, one can assume that with both kayaking and boating, there is a great amount of exercise that can be achieved. The type of exercise will vary depending on the type of activities you choose to engage in. The obvious lack of a motor will provide lots of upper body exercise as a result of paddling when choosing a kayak. In contrast, the various activities such as skiing and water tubing that can be executed from a motorboat, can provide a complete bodies work out.
There are vast differences in activities one will partake in depending on the vessel chosen, as well as the amount of participants one may desire to include. Many of the water activities that require pulling with a large motor such as skiing, tubing, and wake boarding will be limited to a motorboat.
