Computer Information Systems Critical to the Business Processes of Huffman Trucking and how it Affects the Organizational Structure of the Business
“An understanding of the effective and responsible use and management of information systems is important for managers and other business knowledge workers in today’s global information society. Information systems and technologies have become a vital component of successful businesses and organizations. Information systems constitute an essential field of study in business administration and management, as they are considered a major functional area in business operations” (Sachenko, 2007, p. 2).
The computer information system currently in use at Huffman Trucking has been examined and researched to provide an analysis of how it affects the organizational structure of the business. Fully functional and well maintained Computer Information Systems (CIS) are critical to the continued success of Huffman Trucking in reaching its full growth potential in the ever competitive market of fleet trucking services.
Huffman Trucking Database
Currently, there are two databases established for use at Huffman Trucking. The first, is the Entities and Attributes for Driver’s Log. This database contains all relevant personal characteristics of each driver employed as well as a complete record of each driver’s Daily Log. Administrative personnel that maintain records of the driver’s log are responsible for the contents of this database. This database is up-to-date and meets the current needs of the business for storage of data on all employed drivers.
