Self Introduction Speech Preparation Outline
I. Introduction
My whole life I have always been a huge sports fan. No matter if it was watching them, playing them, or even talking about them, I was always interested. I played baseball and football at my high school. I was a part of a state championship winning football team and a State runner up baseball team. My high school career was going great until injuries plagued me.
II. Main Point One
Pitching during pre season bullpen sessions senior year my shoulder began bothering me. I shook it off the first couple of weeks but the pain was too much during the next week. I scheduled myself to see a doctor and get an MRI. As I sit anxiously in the doctor’s office awaiting my results, I can only fear the worst. Doc comes in has terrible news. I have a torn labrum and will need surgery ASAP. I have surgery the following week and am in recovery during the first week of the season for baseball.
III. Main Point Two
I was really shaken up that I could not be out there with my team. I was the number two pitcher in the rotation and the team struggled without me all season. I had some Division Two and NAIA scholarship offers on the table before my senior year started. I had previously decided to attend Grand Valley State University in Michigan on a baseball scholarship before I got injured. Once the school heard the news, they had to cancel the scholarship. My whole life changed in a matter of 30 seconds.
IV. Main Point Three
It was then that I decided to make the best decision of my life, to attend NIU. Close to home, refurbished dorms, and great classroom environments. I have met the most amazing people my time here and I wouldn’t trade it for anything
V. Conclusion
In conclusion, it was hard to get over the fact that I had thrown my last pitch in a real baseball game. Baseball was my life and I didn’t know what I would do without it. My life was completely turned around...
