Personally, I am against the death penalty. Not for the fact that it's killing a human being, but just for the outcome of it. I mean, no one deserves death especially when another human being is forcing death upon you. Death should happen naturally. Even what the person has done was extremely cruel, death isn't the smartest option especially to use it as a punishment because if you really think about it, it may not be a punishment but may be a relief to the person.
Something has to make a person do terrible things or think terrible things, and when they do do those terrible things that's just how you know they completely don't care about anything anymore. If someone shot up a school and they got arrested and put on death penalty, do they really care about dying? For me, I don't think they do. Like I said, I don't believe they care about anything anymore by that point. So, by killing them, we may just be doing them a favor, we could be ending their misery if they're miserable with life, they got the easy way out. What kind of punishment is that? If someone killed my loved ones I wouldn't want the killer to lowkey have an easy way out while everyone else thinks they're being “punished”. I think if you really want to punished, just sentence them life in jail. They will sit there for years and years of their life doing nothing except living a pointless life; for years! That just sounds extremely torturous to me and exactly what they need for doing a terrible thing.
In my opinion, the death penalty just sounds like an easy way out for the person. It's not a real cruel punishment which is what they deserve for doing something horrible. If you want to punish someone and teach them a lesson you have to put them through pain not end their pain. I'm almost sure the sound of 50 years of your life in a jail cell sounds way more intimidating than just death.
