Strategic Plan: Conceptualizing a Business

The business created for this assignment is a small engine repair shop that offers preventative and full service small engine maintenance on a variety of equipment. The name of the business is “J’s Small Engine Repair” and operates in the Central Washington State. The business will have a mission and vision statement that reflects the values and high level of customer service provided. The products and services will be orientated to give optimal customer satisfaction and pricing strategies to compete with the other small engine repair shops within the geographic region. The business is one person owned with five to seven member staff and will not be a part of any franchise business and will concentrate on business within the immediate community. The future of the business is also a key aspect to analyze and make decisions about expanding services to customers. Looking at customer needs and gaining competitive advantage is something to be addressed when deciding on strategic plans for the business. The following paper gives explanations of the aspects of formulating a strategic plan for a new start-up small engine repair shop and a clear mission and vision statement for the organization.
“Mission statements define the nature, purpose and role of organizations; focus resources; and guide planning” (Keeling, 2013). The mission statement for the small engine repair business is “J’s Small Engine Repair offers high-level of customer service and satisfaction with excellent repair times. The staff is experienced, all small engine technicians are certified, have extensive mechanical knowledge, and years of experience along with great communication skills”.
