The Endocrine System
The endocrine system is made up of a network of glandsThere should be adjustments in Inpatient Care and Patient Safety. Without the adjustments, the well-being of the patient is jeopardized. Patient and nursing staff deserve to be in a safe environment. Inpatients are in direct contact with various individuals (doctors, nurses, and other medical staff) and need to feel safe. If the patient does not feel safe, then mentally they will not be as inclined to get well. It is imperative that inpatient care and safety should be improved.
Stakeholders in Inpatient Care
The first persons met by the patient is the registration and admitting staff whose job is to get record information before the patient is admitted to surgery. This is important because doctors and nurses need to know if a patient is allergic to a certain medication, if the patient ate before coming in, if the patient has a religious objection to a medical procedure.
Nurses to patients ratio are very important. If nurses have more patients than can be handled, the patient is in danger. A greater percentage of registered nursed is associated with fewer complications and lower mortality (Mitchell, 2008). Nurses are critical to the patient because they are more likely to be in direct contact with the patient than the doctor.
Doctors have a “longstanding history of monitoring patients’ outcomes to medical treatment and surgical interventions”(Ballard, 2007). It is the doctor who will perform a diagnosis, surgery, and provide the patient’s prescription regimen. To ensure the patient’s outcome goes well, the physician should listen more carefully to the nursing staff (Ballard, 2007).
