Converse and Vans are probably the two most popular shoes teenagers and young adults wear today. Even though these two shoes are popular, doesn’t mean they are meant for everyone. With every shoe comes a different personality. Meaning, every individual is different so based on their personality and style will depend on what type of shoe he or she is wearing. Because these two shoes come in so many different colors and designs everybody is free to choose what fits them best.
Converse shoes started when Marquis M. Converse opened a rubber shoe factory in Malden Massachusetts. Since then the small shoe company rapidly increased in popularity and Converse has never really gone out of style. They now sell the original black canvas and white-toed Hi-Top in a Low-Top version, in many different colors. Nowadays, it seems as if Converse are the choice of punk-rock kids, yet according to the Converse timeline, they were actually the basketball shoe “that virtually everyone would wear” in the ‘30s and ‘40s, and now are a cross between the skaters and punk-rock kids. Not only is this shoe meant for a punk-rock look, it can also give you a nice sporty look. I like converse because they are a great accessory to most things such as if you were to go to a prom, but don't like wearing heels. Well you can wear a pair of converse with a fancy or semi-casual dress without it looking funky, which was originally created by the “ punk-rock” scene of today.
On the other hand Vans are a great shoe to wear too. According to Vans.com, Vans started almost the same way as Converse. It began when Paul Van Doren dreamed about making shoes and selling them to the public. Vans have been a major trend in southern California, and becoming popular with the skaters and surfers.
