Examine Apple’s current position on the company’s ethical and social responsibilities, and determine whether or not the company has met these responsibilities. Provide two (2) examples that support your position.
According to Apple Inc. (2010), they have assured the uppermost standards of ethical conduct for them suppliers, and all labor force associated to the corporation. Apple strives to ensure that all their employees are deal with respect, dignity and free of any discrimination. In addition, they certify that all their suppliers enforce their Code of Conduct (COC) in an endeavor to follow the requirements of fair business, advertising, and competition started by their local law. Furthermore, their suppliers should not engage in any form of corruption, extortion, bribery, and no manner of illegal conduct to attain unlawful advantage. Apple Inc. (2010), reports according to their Apple Suppliers Code of Conduct (ASCOC), have set a minimum wage, a 60-hour a work week limit, and a fifteen year old age limits was established to work under the ASCOC. Additionally, Apple also guarantees the highest standards of social and environmental obligation wherever Apple’s products are manufactured or sold, integrity of Apple’s business is something, which there are not willing to jeopardize, so they safeguard all the rules in the ASCOC are abide by to the fullest extent. The COC instituted by Apple establishes all the rules, which their suppliers must adhere to and is a stipulation to any agreement or contract signed with Apple Inc. Apple's COC safeguards the safety and well-being of all their employees and purveyors, which emphasis Apple’s social responsibility towards the environment. (Apple Inc., 2010).
