• In a virtual meeting, how can you ensure a group is communicating effectively?

Virtual meeting are valuable in today’s business world, but even having such advantages can be bad for the individuals attending these meeting because the non-verbal communication out of the picture, for these meeting to be effective we need to follow some simple steps. First is to create an agenda, the agenda will give the members attending the meeting a clear view and reason of why the meeting is being held. We also need to keep a tight schedule, make sure that the meeting start and ends on time. Stay focus on the subject in hand, try not to steer away from the real purpose for the meeting. Set some rules before the meeting starts, make sure that all distractions are taken care of, for example: cell phones, noise, members being on time not walking in late, shut doors, even putting signs up advising other personnel of a meeting in progress helps. Only have essential personnel at the meeting, and make sure that they are all involved, stay engaged. At the beginning of the meeting is important to check in with the other group, introduce your team. Another important factor and very miss used item is the mute button, avoid it at all cost it shows respect. Finally if possible give the members a task during the meeting such as minute’s recorder and so on, and most important no one likes to waste their time, so stick to the plan in hand.
