Critical and Creative Thinking
Critical and Creative thinking are very important tool that we will use throughout life. Whether it’s making decision or coming up with new and improved ideas to embrace our environment and the world all of us have to use these two keys way of thinking. Critical means “containing or making severe or negative judgment, careful or analytical evaluations: a critical dissertation, of or involving a critic or criticism” (Critical 2013). Creative means “having the ability to create, characterized by originality of thought; having or showing imagination, designed to or tending to stimulate the imagination, characterized by sophisticated bending of the rules or conventions” (Creative 2013).
In this paper I will discuss decisions made that required critical and creative thinking, decision making process and explain how critical and creative thinking contributed to the quality of my decision, identify characteristics of critical and creative thinking, and explain why critical and creative thinking are considered higher levels of thought.
Identifying Important Decisions
An important decision I had to make that requested critical and creative thinking, when I was living in Nashville with my daughter’s father. We always had our light out, didn’t have much food, about to be evicted, verbally abused by him, and it seem like everyday something was always happening. I had to make a hard critical decision that determines the outcome of my life as well as my daughter’s life if I could stick it out. One day I sat down with him and discuss some pros and cons on how we won’t struggle and our lives together with our child.
