The journal that I had selected for this assignment is an action research journal. I was most intrigued by the title of this journal that was using action research for exploration and theory building of young talented and gifted children.
It reports on the outcome of the research carried out by teachers in 14 local education authorities in England, who worked collaboratively with university tutors over a period of 3 years.
The one issue that I had with these research was the way it was conducted – based on a set of action research projects. From the summary, it was not able to generalize the findings nor come up with a set of conclusion. The teachers has very good intention of identifying the talented and gifted children from a young age, however, they did not have nor did they come up with one set of guidelines or procedure to identify the gifted and talented children. I feel that the themes that they conclude with is still vague, this will be very difficult for teachers who were not in the research to understand, nor will it be comprehensible...
