I am doing my paper on china and spain.I chose Spain because it is part of my culture and china because I wanted to learn more about that culture. First I’m going to start off with explaining some traditions in each culture and my connection to Spain and how they are the same or different. One of the most interesting bits of Chinese lor can be found in what is known as the jade culture. Jade is a stone first identified in the first Chinese dictionary called shuo wen zi, in 100 Ad. There are two types of jade: soft jade known as nephrite it is native to china then there is a hard jade (jadeite) jade is important to china not only because of its beauty but also its cultural significance. The jade has 11 virtues including beauty, purity, and grace just to name a few . A Spanish tradition is celebrating a lot they believe it wards off disease, bad luck, and misfortune and intends to keep those and demon’s away. These traditions are similar because they both mean something and both cultures believe that by either celebrating or by wearing a stone, it does some type of good for them in some way. My connection to the Spanish tradition is that we celebrate a lot more stuff than the average non Spanish family and when my family celebrates it could start at 2pm and end at 1 to 2am.

Something I know spanish people believe in is there is this thing we call “ oho” its when you look at a baby and don’t touch it .The belief is the baby will get sick and if your baby gets sick your supposed to get a red piece of string and put it into a ball and lick it so it will stick right onto the middle of the baby’s forehead and keep it there . its supposed to make the baby’s sickness go away. To prevent “oho” you are supposed to at least touch the baby’s forehead instead of just looking at it.I also practice this belief.I also know in the Chinese culture they believe that it is disrespectful to sit with your legs uncrossed while sitting on the...
