It is true that this can be one of the most important elections in history. Senator Barack Obama the countrys first African American presidential candidate, and war veteran Senator John McCain. Obama is a democrat, and McCain is a Republican. John McCain a very old but honorable man has been serving the Senate for twenty-two years. Obama is a reasonably young man who has been serving in the U.S. senate for three years. Obama may not have much experience but he is a very strong individual with a lot of proposals that I agree with. During the 2008 presidential election three debates were held. The following debates of the two candidates I viewed were the second and third.
When it comes to determining who my president should be I consider their ideas on health care, the current war, and the rising prices of gasoline. Personally, I think that all health care should be free to every U.S. citizen, but I country doesn’t see it that way. We need affordable health care and I think Senator Obama adresses good tactics for us to gain affordable health care. During the second debate the two candidates were asked “Is health care a privelage or a responcibility?” Barack Obama says that having health care is a right, and people shouldn’t become backrupt because they can’t pay off their medical bills which is a problem for a lot of Americans. He thinks its very wrong that some insurance company’s won’t cover certain things, and tells us that his mother was one of the victims to this crisis. It was great for him to use his mother as an example because it connects with the people of America, which I think Americans like to hear. Obama also proposes that he wants to lower premiums and give small businesses a fifty percent tax credit to provide health care for those who need it.
