Technology and Advertisement: The Cornerstone of Our Modern Society
For the first time in a very long time, Apple commercials have went back to getting celebrities to promote their product. Actors such as Samuel L. Jackson has been featured in commercials promoting Apple's IPhone 4s on Verizon carrier plan. Jackson promotes the reliablility and coverage reach that comes with Verizon's carrier plan (Jackson). Features from Siri are the main focus of the commercial. Jackson uses Siri, Apple's virtual voice assitant, as he makes dinner, find cooking directions and where he could go to buy the indregients for his meal. But Apple isn't just behind one cell-phone company often hyping network features of different companies such as unlmited data for sprint and immediate voice and & data purposed by AT&T.
Companies like Apple and Verizon must compete and appeal to the increasing, technologically, conscience demographic of today’s society. An example of the demanding advertising technology from markets, is a Verizon-made commercial with Samuel L Jackson and an Apple i-phone 4S. Verizon uses imagery and its associative meanings, ethos and pathos appeal, in their attempt to convey to the consumers that they have the most revolutionary and innovative products on the market. Verizon is also continuing with what Apple does consistently, persuading consumers that their product is effective and successful. Through their use of logos, ethos, and pathos, it greatly distinguishes them from their competition. It also reminds the technological consumers, that they want the latest and greatest technologies. Verizon and celebrity endorsements are increasing consumer's awareness in many advertisements: is it worth the investment?
