Decision in Paradise
Nike got a job soon after graduation with Innovation Company. After a brief introduction about Innovation Company and its policy, Nike role was still unclear to him. His first assignment was to travel to the paradise island of Kava located in the South Pacific to work with Alex. It didn’t take long for Nike to find out that the paradise that he imagines was a mess. Nike also learned that situations that were revealed to him were much worse than the awkwardness of his introduction to Alex.
There are many issues that appear within this business scenario. Kava is faced with constant economic and social disasters. These disasters have potential risk that have an impact on the island and other countries. With a big task as this, critical thinking will be an important role in the decision making process.
Nike is faced with the opportunity to bring his new ideas, knowledge, critical thinking and decision making to the organization. As stakeholders, Nike and Alex now must make the big decision to turn disaster into opportunity while making a greater presence on Kava.
Unfortunately, the Island of Kava is faced with many forces of nature.
The island is economy is constantly at risk because of the many disaster threat that face the island. Constant floods, volcano eruptions, earthquakes, tidal waves, hurricanes, fires, HIV/AIDS, petroleum spill, avian flu and terrorism threaten the daily lives of the local people. The population median is over half of the people is under 15 years. These formulations of problems threaten the existence of Innovation that already has a limited amount of resources on the island.
