Demographic Paper: Aging Population in Southwest Florida

The aging population in Southwest Florida is the fastest increasing issues in the nation today. According to some demographic data it is been developing over the last few years. The aging population is a result of people living longer and the fact that there are fewer young people. As the population gets older it will cause a lot of stress for the government and their budget. The reason for the stress is that more health care services are needed for the aging population of people over sixty-five than there will be for people that are under the age of sixty-five. This could and will increase the cost of health care in the future.
There are many ways that demographics can make an impact on the health care market. When an age group becomes an overwhelming population at some time in the future that group will need health care. In the early twentieth century a group of people known as the baby boomers made up a big portion of the population in the United States. Since then one of themain issue that is a concern for them is health care. Health Care Organizations have no way of keeping up with the need they are bound to fail. Health care Organizations must try to gain a profit while it is possible.
One of the main demographic impacts on health care today is the increasing cost of health care. The cost of health care coverage has increased so much that it seems to be out of our control. Medicare and Medicaid qualifications for medical services have become stricter making it harder for people to qualify for services. This puts a bigger stress on health care budget then previously seen.
