Desegregation of Baseball

Desegregation of Baseball

We are doing a collage of pictures of the Desegregation of Baseball. Each picture shows what it was like during this time. The first picture we chose was a picture of Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson was the first African American to ever play in the major leagues. The next picture we chose was a picture of Jackie Robinson with his huddled with his teammates looking like their having a good time. We chose this to show that the players were warming up to Jackie. The next picture we chose was aa piece of crap. written to Jackie Robinson threatening his life if he played baseball. This shows how a lot of people thought about Jackie playing in the big leagues. The next picture we chose was a picture of a baseball field with signs saying “whites only” hanging of the field. This shows how the baseball fields were segregated. The next picture we chose was a team picture of a team in the Negro leagues. This was a league set up strictly for African Americans. The last picture we chose was a picture of Jackie Robinson laughing it up with a white player from another team. This shows how Robinson helped desegregate baseball. Robinson was one of the greatest baseball players of all time. This homage to Jackie has been an honor to do. If I could meet one person from the past it would be him. Jackie has done so much for baseball and being a ballplayer myself makes me very proud of what he accomplished. He will forever go down in history as the man he desegregated baseball.
