The year was 1992 and I was an innocent, young seventh grader. My teacher, Mrs. Bardino walked around the classroom and assigned each student ?Pro? or ?Con? on the issue of Nuclear Power. I remember the feeling of disappointment when I was given the Pro side. I had to find a way to make myself agree with an issue that I felt just the opposite about. I knew that the only way to make myself comfortable with the debate was to research all the positive and negative aspects of nuclear power and have an answer for every rebuttal given by the con side. After the debate took place and room full of seventh graders with jaws to the floor, I knew I found something I was good at. Mrs. Bardino commented on how I have a future as a lawyer, and I knew she was right.

Skip now to 1996, I was sixteen years old, not as innocent, growing out of adolescence, in the Eleventh grade. I was sitting in front of my guidance counselor and I was listening to him preach on how I didn?t have a future as a lawyer. Was it because I wasn?t in all honor classes? Or maybe it was because I wasn?t in any advance placement classes? Either way this man was telling me that I had no future in law. It wasn?t until I went to class the next period, when Mr. Trout, my English teacher came up to me and said ? Why the puzzled face?? I told him what happened and he told me that only I can control my future and it is a matter of choosing to listen to others or to my heart. It was not until May 1997, when I realized what he truly meant. I walked across the stage and as he handed me my diploma he said, ? You have gift and you will be a lawyer and don?t let anyone tell you different.? I knew he was right. Fast Forward...
