Although the management at Kudler Fine Foods is planning on opening a new location not all their existing locations are successful and they have not done an analysis of the need for their services in the area. Additionally, they have not researched factors that may decrease profitability or reasons that can contribute to the failure of a new location. Another area requiring attention is their management and organizational structure. They have also not developed a strategy if a competitor was to enter their market.
Although the second store is not doing as well as the first store and the third store has only been open for a short while, the owner wants to open a fourth store. Before proceeding with this endeavor the owner, Kathy Kudler, should conduct a proper analysis of the need for the service in the intended new location and review the reasons the second store has not been as profitable as she expected. In addition she should also analyze factors that can contribute to the failure of the new location and the profitability of the company (University of Phoenix, 2003).
In reviewing the company’s strategic plan there are several issues that could jeopardize the growth and success of the company. It has not developed a sound expansion and growth plans. There also seems to be a lack of management and poor organization planning. In addition, they do not have a plan for a competitor entering their market area.
Kudler Fine Foods should look at the second store and conduct a market research and analysis plan to determine why it has not been as successful as anticipated and develop a strategy to correct the issues found. This will position them as a successful organization prior to opening a new store at another location.
