I decided to go with Bleachers by: John Grisham for my second reading assignment. I chose this book because football is my favorite sport and I enjoy reading books that I can relate to. To give you the gist this book is about a legendary high school coach, Eddie Rake, who has just passed away. Some of the kids he coached go back to their home town to attend his funeral. One of his most successful players, all-American Neely Crenshaw, goes to his funeral. Neely Crenshaw is talking to a couple of other players and they all talk about how hard Coach Rake pushed them but it was to help them.
The author was very effective in creating a good piece of writing. He did an excellent job detailing how brutal some of the drills and exercises were. Also, he described how exhausted they were afterward and how they felt. For an example coach Eddie Rake run them so hard that once that a kid died because he had a heat stroke. He thoroughly went through how Coach Rake held the players head till the ambulance came but once they got there it was too late. The author also detailed very well when Neely and Paul went to the prison to see Jesse. He explained how thick his neck was and how muscularly toned he was.
In addiction the author also always told you how Neely was felling. The author through out the book also shows how Neely gets less bitter and less bitter as the book goes on. He also shows how many lives that coach Rake changed and positively impacted.
