What are some of the advantages of working in groups? What are some of the disadvantages that make group work a challenge? Describe these characteristics and add your perspective based on your experiences.
There are many advantages of working in groups. The following are a list of reasons why working in a group has its advantages.
1. A greater productivity: Working in a group can increase productivity, since a large number of individuals are involved in problem solving, each with different knowledge, experience, points of values and views. The best skills of every member of the group are utilized to the maximum, and thus there is no compromise on the productivity when you are working as a group.
Just recently at my job, there was an assignment the staff and faculty needed to achieve in a timely manner from our owner of the school. Since we all have different educational degrees, experiences, industry knowledge, values, and work in different departments of the school, we were able to successfully complete this hard task in which is now thriving.
2. Learn more: Each group member comes from a different background which provides diverse skills and life experiences, cultures, interests, opinions, and knowledge in which can be shared between other group members. In addition, each group member brings in their very own experience, stimulate critical thinking, share collective ideas, and challenge each others’ achievement. This means, at the end of the day, the group has more knowledge, more experience and more resources. Working in a group provides an opportunity to gain knowledge from each other in which it can enhance more creativity and cultural understanding.
