There are always pros and cons when new technology is introduced to our daily lives. The telephone is one of the most revolutionary inventions in communication technology. When it was introduced, some educators claimed a negative impact on people’s writing ability. Some people said it would drastically reduce face-to-face interactions. But there is no doubt about that the telephone made communication easier and gave us more accessibility.
Apparently, children now spend less time playing outside with their friends and spend significant time playing online games at home by themselves. But it’s not necessarily that they play alone. They can play with their friends or team up friends to compete others. The online games have created new opportunity to make friends beyond borders and languages.
The advent of the Internet dramatically changed our communication behavior. We can enjoy exchanging messages, talking or video chatting with our friends and family who live in different towns or even abroad. Parents are able to virtually meet their children who go to school far from their hometown with free video chat services. Grandparents don’t have to miss their grandkids any more. It tremendously makes a contribution to keep long distance relationship. In addition to those online communication tools, social network services enable us to find old friends and organize school reunion much easier.
