Many people fail to realize and take notice that the aftermath of sexual harassment can be more stressful and damaging than the original harassment itself. Even though many people feel that sexual harassment does not effect it’s victims it actually does in many different ways. This paper will show you the many different ways that sexual harassment rather what form it shall occur in can affect its victims.

Victims who usually experience sexual harassment find their work performance or school performance decreasing. Such as increased absences to avoid the harassment or the increased absences because of sickness from stress. Victims find themselves dropping courses and changing academic plans. This usually occurs because the victim is focusing so hard on dealing with the harassment that they have little time for other things. Many people don’t realize the consequences that come along with being a sexual harassment victim. The victims have to face retaliation, public scrutiny, humiliation, and defamation. Victims find themselves being retaliated on if a grievance is filed or should they complain. We see examples of this happening everyday. The perfect example would be a middle school boy and middle school girl in a school environment. The boys of the school have edge on one boy to say something about or touch a girl who is more advanced than the rest of the girls. The boy ends up feeling on the girl and saying some rude and offensive comments to her. Her response is she goes and tells the teacher. The teacher writes the boy up and sends him to the principal office. The principal then takes the matters into her hand which is the boy is suspended and has to go before the school board with his parents before he can return if that is possible. Well now the girl is still at school and the boy is suspended and will be indefinitely until he goes to the school board district for his ruling.
