Don't waste energy

It is important for me to talk to you all, as we are possibly the first generation facing these threads, and I hope we can also be the last.
I want to remind you that you are not only paying the electricity bills and fuel fees whenever you use energy - you are also ‘paying’ the environment, innocent animals’ lives, and even your own life. We all know our oceans are warming and acidifying, we all know the glaciers are melting, we all know the global temperature is rising. We’re seeing more and more extreme weather events. Not to mention droughts and floods, 8 August this year, HK temperature rose to a record-breaking high of 36.3 degree Celsius. Toxic chemicals are also given out during the fuel burning and mining process, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, Mercury, arsenic, etc. Do you dare to take a deep breath near the power plants and roads? Neither do any creature. The Earth is polluted, climate changed, and how many animals were killed because of these? Polar bears, fishes, birds, countless of them. Even humans, 13000 of us are killed every year due to particle pollution. These are not exaggerations, not overstatements, these are facts.
It is easy to break, but hard to fix. It is hard to purify the air is it is polluted, it is hard to extract green house gases if it is already up in the atmosphere. If we can’t bare the consequences, then why do we have the right to further waste energy?
Now, imagine that there are no more fuels in the world, how would your life be? 2088, the year of using up the coal we have today. 2060, the year of using up natural gas we have today. 2051, the yearly using up oil we have today, which counts up 41% of the world’s energy source. You might argue that new reserves might found later. I can’t deny that, I am sure that people will break the weakened Antarctic ice where the penguins all live and get fossil fuel there, but it still can’t last forever. Take oil as example, 80% of the world’s largest oil field have already...
