Dream Deferred

The Middle East is a region not with a “Dream Deferred”, but rather a region that needs help in achieving this dream which has been hidden under the cloak of oppression for many years. This dream, which many of us enjoy daily without a second thought, is simple; to have the opportunity to succeed in life. This should not be merely a societal dream, but rather a global pursuit for equality, equality not just among nations but rather among people. The vision of countries coming together to create a Middle East where oppression is non-existent and freedom in all of its forms is omnipresent, is so startling, it makes me wonder why this dream has been clouded in political red tape for so many years. As an American I can envision how the coming of these two regions could benefit both so much, not just the Middle East.
Oppression in the Middle East has been so commonplace, that most people are desensitized to the atrocities taking place there. In America, politicians, law makers, and regional ambassadors have seen so much chaotic behavior in the Middle East that activities that they would normally campaign against and rally for the immediate cease and desist of, are not even in their top agendas. These things in the Middle East that should be an immediate concern for our nations leaders are things like; oppression of religion, oppression of women, slavery, starvation and worst of all, genocide. The first step America has to take to get this dream back on track for Middle East regions in need, is to start recognizing the problem again. People need to step out of their comfort zone and realize what is happening in the world beyond the U.S., especially U.S. leaders. Once these leaders start recognizing the problems, the healing can begin.
Providing help to the Middle East would be no easy task. The United States’ efforts for help would have to be strictly apolitical and not without humanitarian inspiration. The best way of going about this would be to appeal...
