Let's pretend for a moment that you are driving to the grocery store to get dinner that evening. You get in your vehicle, start up the engine, and carefully put your seatbelt on. In your mind you are ready for what problems could arise on the way from your house to the grocery store, but as you pull out of your driveway, out of nowhere you are rear ended from another vehicle because they were not able to stop in time because of the black ice. Luckily you are okay and no injuries occurred, however you now have to start the painful process of filing a claim with your insurance and your ego is a little bruised.
Too many times do we see on the news, read in the newspapers, or even witness in real life these accidents. With the winter already upon us, and snow on the roads making driving conditions more dangerous, I feel it is very important that all drivers learn to drive in these adverse conditions. When I was 15 years old, my parents knew the importance of this matter. So for one full year, I was the person who drove every where. This also included when the snow arrived. I was taught how to drive safely and properly, and of course how fast to go depending on the condition of the road I was on.
When I went to get my license, it was not a requirement to have experience driving in these conditions, so most people could receive their license regardless of how long they have driven, and in what weather. This became an easy out for all drivers. Because of this, we now have the problems of wrecks happening world wide and of course nasty traffic jams due to cleaning up the mess.
How can we fix this you might ask? I feel that if we were all mandated to drive for so long in these
conditions as part of our requirements for renewals, or even our initial license for those of us who have not received our license so we can all be properly...
