Drug Wars In Honduras

Is someone you know or a loved one addicted to drugs? They are most likely getting their drugs from Honduras and neighboring countries. Honduras has had major drug problems for a very long time. With trafficking casualties reaching over 120,000, even the presidential candidates in Honduras have used the drug war as a good tactic to win over voters.
Juan Orlando Hurnandez was one of those candidates. He claims he’s going to throw down a harder hammer on drug lords in Honduras; Such as put twice as many officers in the most crime ridden areas of Honduras in an attempt to try and put an end to the some of the drug trade. Juan is now the president-elect of Honduras by a very close vote against Xiomara Castro. Castro lost by a just 6 points in the eight way race for president.
Honduras is one the world’s most deadly countries. It has a murder rate 14 times that of the US. With 18 different gangs all trying to control drugs their way on the streets, most encounters are deadly. Four fifths on all US bound Cocaine flows straight threw Honduras; 90% of cocaine-laden plains leaving South America first land in Honduras.
With the murder rate 14 times that of the US; Honduras is a very deadly place to be if don’t know where you’re going and how to be prepared. Gang battles that always end in bloodshed with police refusing to be bribed, Honduras might not be your dream vacation you always wanted.
