I. Early Rome and the Republic – the later roman republic came around between 150-140bc. The three classes were still there but with different names. They where the optimate, popular and slaves. Knowing your family history was very important in rome. Popular people could not rise up as easy as the optimate. The popular had to go through the military to gain any power. The senate start feeling pressure, while rome keeps growing, the graochi which are two brother, their names are Tiberius and gaios. In 1336bce Tiberius becomes a councel. Tiberius saw that the veterans did not have anything when they came back from war and wanted to distribute the land to them. Tiberius tries to take a extra term and is murdered. About ten years later gaiuss becomes a consol. He became a consol in 1236bce. He was big on citizenship and wanted to allow more people to get citizened. He was also murdered by the senate. Sulla is a optimate and marius is a populare. In 1076bce marius became a consel. He wanted people to support the military more and wanted people to join. Sulla and marius fight and argue for two decades. Sulla became a sonsel in the 80s and this set everything off. All of this led to the first civil war of rome. In 786bce marius died from natural causes. After this sulla declared himself dictator. He restores rome back to order, sulla was really harsh to his enemies. Rome never got there political system back in order. In the late 70s there where three major people. They where pompy crassius and Julius Caesar. Pompey and crassius where two very important generals. Those three guys made a group called the first triumverate and they combined there powers to get more things done. Pompey was the most important of the group at this time. They all are a consel at one point of time. Crassius was sent out to put down the biggest slave revolt in rome and that was called the sparticus revolt. Julius Caesar was from a very famous family. Caesar assignment was to conquer gaul....
