Healthy eating habits are extremely important not only to prevent the disease from occurring in the first place but also to live a long and healthy life with diabetes. The most important factor when it comes to diabetes is controlling and regulating blood sugar level, and this can be achieved by consuming healthy diets regularly, good exercise, and medications. With good healthy eating habits, Type ll diabetes could be preventable. However, type l diabetes occurs from the fetus to early stages in life, which is hard to prevent type 1 diabetes just with healthy life style. Type 1 diabetics require medications to help them minimize with their symptoms, and there is no cure today, to cure type 1 diabetes.
Patients with diabetes need to concentrate in carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Carbohydrates have big impact in blood sugar levels. It is important to make sure, patients know the type of carbohydrates they are taking, and managing to balance them. There are two types of Carbohydrates, which are simple carbohydrates, and complex carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates include fruits and some vegetables, which contains vitamins, minerals, and fiber. But they also include processed and refined foods, with lack of nutritional values, and some of these foods include candy, snack foods, soda, flour, and white rice. Complex carbohydrates are found in starchy vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. Complex carbohydrates can keep more blood sugar level. Taking right amount of proteins and fats are also essential for the patients.
