Effectiveness in the Army (SHARP)

 The effectiveness of overall combat readiness relies on much more than just knowing that the leaders and peers next to you are capable. Knowing that you can trust that leaders and peers alike will not conduct themselves in inappropriate ways can go a long way in trust and cohesion. Sexually explicit behavior is intolerable amongst each other in the Army and military as a whole. After researching many cases of sexual harassment and sexual assault alike, I have come to the conclusion that behavior like this can ruin your career and personal life alike. Though out this essay I will discuss several different cases of harassment and assault, giving a conclusion on how each of these cases can lead to low morale, trust and effectiveness, not only on the battlefield but in life its self.
In early 2012 Spc. Natasha Schuette was sexually assaulted by a male drill sergeant when he lured her into an office. The drill sergeant made several different advances, making kissing faces and winking and inappropriate comments to, then PFC, Natasha Schuette. She nearly lost faith in anyone in a military uniform until a Sergeant Major listened and brought in all the females in her basic training and asked questions. The drill sergeant got sentenced to 4 years in confinement for his actions to not only her but several females in her basic training. This drill sergeant nearly ruined the perspective of a brand new private that is supposed to trust this leader to teach them what it means to be in the Army. Spc. Shuette courage to report the assault most likely led to saving many other brand new soldiers from being assaulted.

In March 2012 an Army Captain reported that Brigadier General Jeffery Sinclair had a 3 year long affair with her, including that she was assaulted on two occasions.
