Energy resources Challenges By Betty Edwards Renewable forms of energy resources Wind- This is a clean energy source it uses the wind to produce energy. The major challenge is the wind is not always blowing when we need electricity. However, batteries can be used to store power but in the summertime the wind may not blow for some time making this source harder to maintain. Ethanol this renewable energy source is made from corn stalks, grain, and woodchips. This renewable energy is not readily available in all states. Where I live ethanol cost more than fuel, so it is not cost -effective to operate a vehicle. Solar Cells – this form of renewable of energy uses the sun and converts it to electricity that can be stored for future use. This energy can be sold to the power companies when the excess is not used by the consumer. Solar Cells are expensive to install. Solar cells are only producing energy when the sun is shining. Hydropower this renewable energy source uses water as the main source of power. This is the oldest form of power once used to power a wheel that ground grain. Where I live we have waterwheel Ice cream which uses a waterwheel to churn the Ice cream. The disadvantages of this renewable source are the Hydrogen plant. Hydropower can be affected by rain falls no rain, no water, no electricity. Nonrenewable energy resources include coal, oil, and natural gas. Describe three common challenges with managing Nonrenewable energy resources. The three things I discovered are: Carbon Dioxide released into the air by all three Works Cited
