ENG 050 Week 5 – Paper Three: Profile Essay
Paper Three: Profile Essay
Task:
Write an essay discussing what you consider makes someone successful, using a person you have interviewed as your example.
Purpose:
Your purpose in writing this essay is to conduct an interview with a person you know and make a connection between their experiences and your own concept of success.  This paper will cover two main concepts:
Your concept of success: Your paper should contain a thesis/main point where you argue what success truly is. The rest of your paper should be written to support that thesis and develop your ideas.
Your chosen person: Your examples to support your thesis should come primarily from the life/perspective of your chosen interview subject, though you may include other examples as well. Include many sensory details and concrete examples, as well as direct quotes.
Audience:
You will be writing your paper for a general audience.  You can assume that your audience is a member of this class and therefore familiar with our readings thus far this semester.
Format/Requirements:
You paper must be at least three full pages in length.  Any shorter and it will incur a significant length penalty.
The text should be double-spaced, using 12 point Times New Roman font.
Set up your paper using MLA format as reviewed in class.
Your profile must include at least three paragraphs, but may contain more.
You must include at least two direct quotes from your interview, plus a Works Cited Page in MLA format.  Use the quote sandwich every time.
